Data usage & privacy policy
Effective 4 November 2026
DrivSync is local-first: most of your data never leaves your phone. This policy lists exactly what is stored, where, and what is sent to which service.
1. Stored on your phone
Vehicles, fuel logs, expenses, maintenance, rides, drives and route points, saved routes and trips, Economy Score history, Copilot insights, community posts, documents (RC, PUC, insurance) and photos. The database is encrypted. Signing out or deleting the account erases it from the phone; your Google Drive backup is kept.
2. Safety and medical data
Your emergency profile, medical details and emergency contacts are kept on your phone and, with the rest of your data, in your own Google Drive backup. They are never sent to the AI and are only shared when you choose to:
- Safety ID: when you create one, your name, blood group, emergency number and up to five emergency contacts (and your medical details only if you turn that on) are kept on the DrivSync server at a random link, so anyone who scans your QR code can read them in a browser. They are updated when you change them and deleted when you turn Safety ID off.
- Emergency texts: "Emergency location share" sends an SMS with your location from your phone to your emergency contacts. Its map link carries the location in the address only; the DrivSync server does not store it.
3. Your account
With online accounts, your email, name and password (stored hashed by our cloud account provider) and your public Community profile (username, name, bio, city, riding style) are stored with that provider, with the Google account your backup goes to (so we can offer to restore it), and the phones you use DrivSync on: for each, its model, its Android or iOS version, the app version, how you sign in, and when you first and last signed in, last used the app and signed out there. These help us support you and decide which phones and versions to support. No phone number or hardware ID (such as IMEI or advertising ID) is collected. Support requests you send while signed in are also kept there (reference, topic, subject, your message, date, app details if you chose to include them, and the status and any note from our team), so you can follow them on any phone and our team can answer them. Deleting the account deletes all of these. We then keep one anonymous note: the day, how many weeks the account existed, the phone model, its Android or iOS major version, the app version and how you signed in, without your name, email or account. If you tell us why you left, that note is stored the same way, separately. Without online accounts, the account is kept on this phone only.
4. Backup (your Google Drive)
When you sign in with Google (or connect Google Drive), everything DrivSync stores for you (records, rides and route points, photos, safety and medical details, settings) is backed up to a "DrivSync" folder, and your documents to a "DrivSync Documents" folder, in your Google Drive: every day and after changes while you use the app. Signing in on a new phone brings it back. DrivSync uses access only to files it creates. We have no server copy of your garage.
5. AI Copilot
When you ask the Copilot a question online, the question and a summary of your vehicle data (vehicles, fuel, expenses, service, trips, paperwork dates, scores, fuel price) go through the DrivSync server to an AI provider to write the answer. If that provider is busy or does not answer, the same question and summary go to a second AI service, through an AI routing service; free AI models there may keep the question and use it to improve their models. Safety and medical data are excluded. Nothing is stored on our server. Offline answers are made on your phone. When you open the words of a ride story online, the place names, vehicle, day, time of day, distance, time and climb of that ride go the same way to suggest titles and tags; never its map coordinates.
6. Location
Used to find your city for fuel prices and weather, to record rides and drives (in the background only while one is recording), and for route previews. DrivSync never tracks you otherwise.
7. Services that receive data when you use a feature
- Fuel prices: your city name → DrivSync server → a fuel-price provider.
- Weather: your location rounded to about 1 km → a weather service.
- Place search and city name: what you type / your position (rounded to about 1 km when it goes through the DrivSync server) → a map search service.
- Shared map links: a short link you open or paste in DrivSync → the map site it belongs to, to read where it points. Places you picked lately stay on this phone only.
- Route preview and navigation: start, stops, destination and your position → a routing service.
- Maps: map tiles from a map tile service.
- Nearby help: your position and the kind of place (hospital, police, mechanic, fuel) → a map data service, while the Nearby help screen is open.
- Support requests: your name, email and message → the DrivSync support inbox.
- Challans: your registration number is only copied to your clipboard; you choose to paste it on the government site.
8. Notifications
Reminders (service, insurance, PUC, planned trips) are scheduled on your phone. So are the occasional friendly nudges, which are set from how often you open the app; they stop when you turn off notifications in Settings. No push service receives your data.
9. Crash reports and app settings
- Crash reports: if the app crashes or something fails (a backup, an AI answer, an OBD connection), a report goes to our crash-reporting provider: the error and where in the app it happened, the app version, your phone model and its Android or iOS version, and a random ID for this install (not your account). Names, emails, registration numbers, locations and your records are removed from reports. Turn them off in Settings → Privacy → Send crash reports.
- App settings: when it opens, and every few hours, the app reads our public settings (the latest version, maintenance notices, which features are on). Nothing you have entered is sent.
- App check: to keep other apps from using our services, your phone confirms through Google Play (Android) or Apple (iOS) that this is the genuine DrivSync app. This sends no personal data.
- Home screen widgets: if you add one, the vehicle name, Economy Score, mileage, next due date and fuel prices it shows are kept on your phone only, and removed when you sign out.
10. Your choices and rights
- Export everything or delete all data on this phone: Settings → Data management.
- Delete your account: Profile → Account & security.
- Change permissions any time in your phone's settings.
11. Children
DrivSync is meant for licensed riders and drivers and is not directed at children.
12. Contact
Privacy questions: synclinaai@gmail.com or Profile → Get help → Contact support.
